Another star has shone its last.
Legendary Hollywood great Tony Curtis passes away on Wednesday night. He was 85.
Curtis, a dark-haired heartthrob and a box office powerhouse back in the 50's as well as the 60's, succumbed to cardiac arrest at his home in Henderson, Nevada.
His actress daughter Jamie Lee Curtis reveals in a statement, "My father leaves behind a legacy of great performances in movies and in his paintings and assemblages."
Curtis' sixth wife, Jill Vanderberg, recalls the actor's final moments in an interview with Inside Edition, saying, "His heart survived many things that would have killed an ordinary man. This time his heart was ready to go."
The actor, was globally renowned for his performances in classic films such as the gladiator flick 'Spartacus,' the comedy hit 'Some Like It Hot,' and serious dramatic roles which include 'The Defiant Ones,' which earned him an Academy Award nomination for best actor.
Curtis, backed up by his versatility and strikingly good looks, has more than 140 film credit up his sleeves in the span of his illustrious career. He was Tinseltown's favorite leading man back in his heyday and a sizzling hot property of teen magazines.
Eventually, the actor then experienced a scarcity for leading man roles, and became plagued with drug and alcohol problems. Yet Curtis would triumph over adversity and transform himself to a character actor, taking on TV roles. Painting and art also became a passion from then on.
His legacy shall live on.
