Eminem and Justin Bieber score at Billboard Music Awards!

So will the real slim shady please stand up?

Eminem and teen sensation Justin Bieber owned Sunday night at the Billboards Music Awards, bagging a total of six awards each and not to mention the rap icon grabbing the biggest bacon, the artist of the year award.

Eminem, 38, who was a no show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, also won notable honors for such categories as top male artist, rap artist, billboard top 200 album, rap album and rap song. The local from Detroit gained astounding critical acclaim last year for his mammoth album ‘Recovery,’ which spewed the hit single ‘Love The Way You Lie’ featuring curvy pop diva Rihanna.

Meanwhile, 17-year-oldJustin Bieber edged out rapper Nicki Minaj and singer Bruno Mars for the coveted best new artist award. This was just an addition to his other honors, namely, social; and digital media artist, top pop album and streaming artist and song. Sporting a new spiky hairdo topped off with a luminous gold tuxedo jacket, the Canadian heartthrob and YouTube discovery poured out his heartfelt thoughts for the honors.

“I’m 17,” he said. “Everyday is crazy to me because I see so may people and I get to make so many people smile.” He also expressed gratitude to the people responsible for “helping me get out of my home town and live my dream.”

Joining the evening’s winners list were Katy Perry, with top hot 100 artist and top digital songs, Taylor Swift with country artist of the year, Black Eyed Peas with the top duo or group award, British singer and songwriter Taio Cruz with top hot 100 song of the year for that explosive hit “Dynamite” and legendary rock band U2 winning the top touring award for the ongoing ‘U2 360 degrees’ tour.

Of course the night was not complete without a special tribute to Beyonce, who was honored with the Millennium award for being a positive role model for women and also a musical influence.

Neil Diamond was presented the icon award as the 70-year-old crooner delivered his classic rendition of his 1969 hit, ‘Sweet Caroline.’

Empty handed or not, everybody who graced the prestigious event deserves a standing ovation. I mean, I couldn’t even get an invitation myself. ;)
