Yet even so, it was more than R&B sensation Mario could stomach. The singer was arrested on the wee hours of a Friday after he allegedly assaulted his heroin-addicted mother.
Shawnia Hardaway, 45, plagued with constant struggles of drug abuse, informed authorities that his 24-year-old distraught son got violent and struck her, besides trashing their Fells Point apartment.
According to a police report, it was around 12:50 a.m. when the cops were summoned by Hardaway to meet up with her in the lobby of their apartment. The mother was reportedly sobbing and recounted how Mario destroyed their home and pushed her causing "minor pain."
Police records further reveal that authorities had discovered a broken china cabinet and glass scattered on the floor, not to mention a broken mirror and a hole in a closet door.
The singer, whose full name is Mario Dewar Barrett, had been slapped charges of one count of second-degree assault. He was eventually released after posting a bond of $50,000.
Despite those flaws, I can't even stomach the thought of laying a single hand on my old woman.
Here's hoping that mother and son patch things up.
