Hawaii Five-O's James MacArthur Passes Away!

James MacArthur Pictures, Images and Photos

Hollywood legend James MacArthur dies at the age of 72.

MacArthur, globally renown as detective Dan Williams in one of TV's longest-running crime shows, Hawaii Five-O, passes away due to natural causes.

Besides an 11-year stint in the popular TV classic with the catchy intro, the actor also has several film credits up his sleeve. These include such appearances in Swiss Family Robinson, and co-starred with Clint Eastwood in the Western hit 'Hang 'Em High.'

Yet the biggest highlights in MacArthur's illustrious career would be in the 1958 classic, 'The Young Stranger' where he bagged himself a BAFTA for most promising newcomer.

But that didn't stop there, as the actor's Broadway debut also received critical acclaim in 1961 for 'Invitation to a March' with Jane Fonda, taking home the prestigious Theatre World Award for best new actor.

MacArthur is the son of playwright Charles MacArthur and actress Helen Hayes. He leaves behind his wife of more than 25 years, Helen Beth.

R.I.P., James.
