Manny Pacquiao Pulverizes Margarito, Bags Eighth Title!

History has repeated itself!

World's number one pound for pound Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao outclasses Antonio Margarito in a classic David vs. Goliath 12-round bout at the Cowboys Stadium in
Arlington, Texas, to capture the WBC Super Welterweight division, plus his eighth title in another weight class.

The Filipino pride and Congressman of the Sarangani province, gave away 17 pounds in weight, including a height disadvantage against the behemoth Mexican, (5'6 and a half compared to 5'll) but this proved to be no hindrance, as Pacquiao matched size with outstanding speed, releasing a flurry of punches and was usually a step ahead of Margarito in the breathtaking face-off.

In fact, Pacquiao, who won single-handedly every round on the scorecard and considers this bout "the hardest fight of his career," gave referee Laurence the looks in several instances during the 11th round to discontinue the fight, due to Margarito's critical condition to no avail. The Tijuana Tornado's eyes were visibly swollen and almost closed.

"I told the referee, 'Look at his eyes, look at his cuts,'" the Pacman complained. "I did not want to damage him permanently. That's not what boxing is about." Now that's humility displayed in a true warrior.

Even coach Freddie Roach questioned the referee's better judgment, insisting that the stoppage could have been made earlier, instead of going the full 12 rounder.

Yet it wasn't within Margarito's vocabulary to throw in the towel.

"There was no way I was going to quit. I'm a Mexican, we fight until the end," says the 32-year-old orthodox slugger.

And it definitely cost him. Margarito suffered a fractured orbital bone to his face and required immediate surgery on Tuesday, according to Top Rank promoter Bob Arum.

So now what's next for the ace Mexi-cutioner? A most talked about square-off with the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr.? A Juan Manuel Marquez rematch? A Shane Mosley encounter? The whole world awaits for the next saga. One thing for sure, the champ needs to chill and relax for now.

Congratulations, Pacman!
