Jill Clayburgh Passes Away At 66!

Another Hollywood legend makes her departure.

Actress and Broadway sensation Jill Clayburgh dies at her home in Connecticut. She was aged 66.


According to her playwright husband David Rabe, his wife succumbed to chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), an illness that has plagued Clayburgh for more than 20 years now.

Clayburgh has numerous broadway productions to her credit back in the 60's and 70's. These include 'The Rothschilds' and 'Pippin.' Her film debut came in 1963 with 'The Wedding Party,' although the classic was released six years later.

Besides countless film credits to her name, the highlight of Clayburgh's career would be in 1978, where she was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress for 'An Unmarried Woman, which she also bagged herself the Cannes Film Festival Best Actress Award.

As for TV appearances, these include 'Law and Order,' 'The Practice' and Ally McBeal. She earned Emmy Award nominations for her performances in 1975's 'Hustling' and the popular series 'Nip/Tuck' in 2005.

Clayburgh has left behind a son and a daughter with Rabe, Michael and actress Lily Rabe.
