Kid Rock Comes Clean On His Verbal Assault!
Sticks and stones will break your bones but names spark global mayhem.
Singer/songwriter Kid Rock has testified Thursday on behalf of his actions during a 2007 brawl at a Waffle House restaurant, involving another customer.
Says Kid Rock in a testimony at the Dekalb County court, "I gave it to him verbally, I said, 'Shut your mouth, man.'" Despite this, he never used his fists while his band members threw a punch at Harlen Akins.
Akins, an event promoter and caterer, counter testified, saying, "I still don't even know what did I say to him to start this jumping on me," adding that he feared his life during the scuffle.
The musician on the other hand, narrated that Akins insulted a woman at his party and even questioned him about his former spouse, Pamela Anderson, to which Akins denied such allegations.
However, both parties admitted that they had consumed a substantial amount of alcohol. Kid Rock disclosed that he'd taken in more than a six pack of beer prior to arriving at the restaurant while Akins had two or three shots of cognac at some club and even smoke marijuana.
The rumble began when the musician's guitarist, Jason Krause, attacked Akins as he was about to reach for something on the table of his booth. According to Krause's testimony on Wednesday, he thought Akins was going for his knife. Akins claims instead, he was reaching for his cell phone to call the cops.
Close friends of the musician who witnessed the event, contradicts the statement, insisting that they overheard Akins say that he was going to contact his pals to come shoot the place up. Akins thwarted such.
Kid Rock and his friends applied brute force to eventually send Akins out of the restaurant, to which the latter banged on the window till it shattered.
Self defense was the bottom line of Kid Rock's testimony, and roughing it up was necessary.
"If you look at me, Bossy, Jason and Bear, if we wanted to hurt this man, we could have hurt him very, very bad," says the multi-genre musician.
Akins is reportedly seeking $6,000 in medical fees and other undisclosed damages.
Well for once, you managed to keep your knuckles sedated, buddy. Let's just all kiss and make up, shall we?
